What Jaw Crushers are used for
Jaw crushers are often called primary crushers, because they take material straight from the blast face in the quarry to do the first crush. The sturdy fixed jaw and the powerful vibrating jaw combine to grind the stones down. This produces a rough, ungraded aggregate with sharp edges, which can be anything from the minimum size of the jaw down to dust particles.
This stone can be used for rough backfilling, but usually has to be processed further for use in road base, asphalt or concrete. This can be done using an impactor, for softer stone, or a cone crusher, where rock is granite, basalt or another hard rock.
A typical crushing line for asphalt grade stone consists of a jaw crusher like a Sandvik QJ341, a cone crusher like a Sandvik QH331, then a three-deck screen like a Sandvik QA451, to get the four products you need for asphalt.
Mobile Jaw Crushers
Mobile jaw crushers are ideal for contract crushing or short-term construction projects, because of their flexibility in moving between job sites or around a quarry.
Mobile crushers can be moved right up to the quarry face to crush, removing the need for dumpers and double handing of the rock, then moved away to safe positions while blasting.
