Danang builds new airport terminal

Danang International Airport’s new international terminal will open by April next year. Saigon Times media reported the new international terminal will open 30 April, 2017, ahead of the hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum that will be held in Danang later in the year. Construction of the outer structure will be completed by the end of November and the interiors will be ready by March 2017 to allow testing of all facilities ahead of the official opening. inside no 7By the end of February all aviation control devices will be operational. From 15 March to 29 April, next year, the investor plans to test run the terminal before its inauguration on 30 April.


The project has three main sections: a terminal, a flyover and a parking lot. Once completed, it will have 20 check-in counters, 22 check-out desks and 10 boarding gates. The terminal is expected to serve 4 million passengers a year. The project has an investment capital of USD158 million. After the new terminal is operational, the current international terminal at Danang Airport will be used for domestic flights. The airport expects to receive 2.3 million passengers in 2022 and 4 million passengers in 2025. Danang tourism authorities project the city will attract 8.85 million visitors by 2020, including 2.45 million foreigners. Tourism earnings will reach USD1.41 billion.


This year, the city targets 5.1 million visitors, including 1.32 million from abroad. It will generate USD616 million in revenue. Last year, the city logged 4.6 million tourist arrivals, including over 1.2 million international tourists, a 22.4% year-on-year increase. The city’s tourism revenue reached USD558.8 million. Danang is Vietnam’s third largest city located on the eastern sea coast, midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
